Some players prefer to use “taming pens” – a structure made to trap a dino so you can tranquilize or tame it from within a pen. Consider trapping the creature or bringing it to your taming pen. Other - Taming a creature in some way that’s unique to that dino, such as feeding sacrifices to a Troodon, letting a Noglin mind-control your dinos, or swimming along side a Megachelon.ģ.(sometimes called non-violent taming, but often still can be violent) Passive Taming ( list of creatures) - Walking up to the creature and feeding it while it’s conscious.Knock Out Taming ( list of creatures) (most common) - Inflicting torpor until the creature is tranquilized and the feeding it while it’s unconscious.Generally, if you’re taming with a higher quality foods or taming a lower level dino, you’ll need less narcotics, or possibly none.Ĭreatures generally must be tamed using one of the three methods: Narcotics (for knock out tames), such as Narcoberries or Narcotics, if required. You may consider bringing a few extra just in case.Ī tranquilizing weapon and ammo (for knock out tames), such as tranq arrows, tranq darts, a slingshot, etc. Check Dododex for the Required ResourcesĬreature’s preferred food. Some creatures must be knocked out first (knock-out taming) while others can be fed while they are conscious (passive taming).įor all your taming needs, use, or Dododex on Android or iOS. make sure there is no issue with it becoming a permeant feature.Īll in all, it be a brilliant feature for players who would love to be able export and import creatures from Evolved to Ascended, as I said the coding is changing but the information and how its handled really shouldn't be I think, maybe I'm wrong about that.To tame a creature in ARK: Survival Evolved, you must feed it a set number of its preferred food. Might actually be best it was creature list only and not ark data as well, but then people lose saddles, so that suck, least we get to keep dinos though.Īll in all, I don't see how this can't be done and also think it be great if there actually was a "Export" and "Import" buttons on the terminal "creature list" screen and "ark data" screen.Įven if its just a temporary feature for the first 3/6 months so developers and players can see what is what with the feature. Players, SW and snail can setup rules on there servers to prevent abuse of the system, not quite sure how that go but presume its possible to prevent any dinos from being transferred in, so there is some control over that. Then load up Ark Ascended, then bingo, the dinos from Evolved are there in a Ascended terminal for players to access. Players in Ark Evolved could upload up to 50 dinos to the creature list in the terminal, or add 50 dinos in a cryopod to Ark Data.īackup the CreatureList.arkdata and ArkData.arkdata from Ark Evolved somewhereĪdd the CreatureList.arkdata and ArkData.arkdata that was backed up to the saved folder in Steam Library/Ark Ascended/Content/etc The information file is key, what if it was called CreatureList.arkdata and ArkData.arkdata, then players could do below Right now, I have no idea how this information is stored but hypothetically speaking, what if that terminal system was split into two coding filesĬontains the information and stored within the Saved folder in steam library/arkĬontains the code that processes the information (code that displays the lists on the terminal dialog and processes when someone retrieves a creature or item from ark data) The game is changing but how the dinosaurs stats and colour regions are isn't, so the information should still be the same in Evolved and Ascended I think. How the information is processed in Evolved and Ascended potentially be different, but how the information is stored to be retrieved later shouldn't. That information related to each item on either list, I don't see how that would be different. However, when it comes to the terminal and the dinosaurs we upload to the creature list or add a cryopod with a dino to the ark data. I know Unreal Engine 5 is different and better than UE4, the coding on how everything is handled will be completely different. Even on PVE and single player there is a lot of time put into this, so it does sucks that everyone is going have to start over on Ascended.īut what if there was a way to transfer creatures from Evolved to Ascended? There has been days and days been put into breeding by players. I'm single player only but we all know official servers are shutting down at end of August, I personally understand why this is happening but I also understand why people are upset. I must state first that I don't have any experience with Unreal Engine but do have some programming experience, I might be completely wrong about this but in the interest of potentially helping, thought it be worthwhile posting.
